Emmy- and Peabody-winning producer Michael Churton creates cinematic video, photography, marketing content, and social media campaigns for brands, organizations, businesses, and individuals. Drawing on more than two decades of experience in documentary television and streaming, every project is shaped by strong storytelling, polished production, and a clear understanding of its audience.

More Than Content Production

Effective content must do more than look professional. It must communicate an idea, create an emotional response, and give the audience a reason to act.

From concept development and field production to editing, photography, copywriting, and social distribution, projects are approached as complete communications campaigns—not isolated videos or images. The result is content designed to support brand awareness, audience engagement, fundraising, recruitment, education, or sales.

client stories

From internationally recognized brands such as National Geographic to growing businesses and organizations, I work closely with clients to understand their goals and shape stories that connect with their audiences. Whether profiling an NGO in India or capturing a two-day beauty and wellness event, each project is tailored to the client’s message, needs and intended platform.

Produced by National Geographic Branded Content, this short documentary profiles Renew Oceans, an NGO working to reduce plastic pollution throughout the Ganges River system through education, community engagement and locally driven solutions.

Produced a short documentary segment for a live broadcast exploring how Nik Wallenda’s high-wire system was installed above Times Square. The piece demonstrates how technical processes, behind-the-scenes access and expert interviews can be shaped into an engaging story for any client or audience.

Produced a short profile for the New York City Marathon following a Puerto Rican runner in her home country who continued training in the aftermath of a devastating hurricane—an inspiring story of resilience, determination and hope.

The client held a two-day event featuring leading entrepreneurs, including makeup industry founder Bobbi Brown. Working in a fast-moving environment, I captured on-the-go interviews and the energy of an event designed to spotlight, connect and inspire founders.

The client requested a short film that captured the spirit and energy of the event. Through interviews, observational footage and highlights from the presentations, we shaped a cohesive narrative that serves both as a record of the experience and a promotional tool for future events.

Community Projects

Interviews, photography and visual documentation created for local historical societies, volunteer organizations and community groups. These projects range from professionally filmed oral histories—recorded and delivered as lasting archival records—to long-term photo documentation, event coverage and custom slideshows.

For the Dutchess County Historical Society, I filmed interviews with local veterans to preserve their firsthand stories for future generations. I managed the full production setup, including lighting, audio and a two-camera shoot, creating a lasting historical record of their service and experiences.

Filmed a local library lecture exploring the history of the region’s railroads, supported by more than 100 archival photographs and slides that brought the story to life.

Photographed over two months, this project documented community volunteers coming together to build SPARC Park—from the first stages of construction through the creation of a new shared space for local families.

Produced and directed a sports-driven profile for the Miss USA competition, combining interviews and dynamic visuals to introduce the contestant’s story, personality and competitive spirit. The format can also serve as a template for client introductions, commercials and promotional campaigns.

Filmed sit-down interviews with volunteers from the Stanfordville Fire Department, reflecting on the department’s history, its role in the community and the future of volunteer service.

Filmed interviews with longtime Stanford residents for the Stanford Historical Society, preserving personal memories and local perspectives on the people, places and events that shaped the community.

Filmed the inaugural installation of a 9/11 flag memorial, working closely with the local volunteer fire department to capture the tribute exactly as they envisioned it.
